Worcester Wineathlon – Report

Worcester Wineathlon Sat 10 Sept 2016

Run report by Len Quartly

The Worcester Wineathlon in aid of St Richard’s Hospice was an 8+ miler, very multi-terrain including crossing a knee-deep ford, but fairly flat, in contrast to the mountainous course profile shown on the Wineathlon website. Five of us Julia Blake, Angela Timothy, Juliette Warburton, Jennifer Lipscombe; and myself ran it on 10 September.

It was a well organised friendly event with a circular route from Upton Snodsbury and taking in the rural lanes and areas of Cowsden, Peopleton and White Ladies Aston. The event was hugely populated with fun runners in ‘Where’s Wally’ outfits, but for the serious runners, like the five from B&RAC, it was the three water/wine stations en-route and one at the finish which were the attraction. No prizes for guessing what we all had!

Finally a visit to The Oak pub for even more alcohol and a late lunch for most race finishers
